*What is a Volunteer’s Time Worth? The Independent Sector tracks the value of volunteer time, updated yearly. That value was $21.36 in 2010, the most recent year for which data are available. Value is based on the average hourly earnings for non-management, non-agricultural workers as determined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and then increased by 12 percent to estimate fringe benefits. Texas Parks & Wildlife Department currently applies for federal grants with our service used as in-kind match at the value of $19.50.
