by Scott Guilbeaux on November 18, 2018

Volunteers Needed to work with 4th Grade Students to Develop a Native Plant Garden

This opportunity involves planting and maintaining a native plant garden in the school yard of the Port O’Connor Elementary School, coordinating and helping the 4th graders with the project. The school will supply the kids and the ground space and TMN will provide the plants and the expertise. The project started in November and will end July 15, 2018.

Skills required are the ability to work well with children, patience, and good communication skills. Participants should bring their own tools, such as trowels, shovels, and gloves. The work is active, but not strenuous.

The general purpose of the project is to educate students and teachers about native plants and provide some exposure to the TMN program, as well as to increase native habitat and pollinator plants. To volunteer, contact Brigid Berger here.
