Roving Interpretive Guide—New!
Do you enjoy meeting people and sharing your knowledge of the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge? As a Roving Interpretive Guide, you spend time at a location on the Refuge and help visitors you encounter there to interpret what they are experiencing. With your knowledge of the Refuge, you can enhance visitors’ experience by helping them discover the plants and wildlife around them. You don’t have to be a subject-matter expert; you can make discoveries together! Contact Laura Bonneau for more information and training as needed. VMS Opportunity Listing – PO: ANWR
Birding Surveys—Updated!
Volunteers are needed to perform monthly bird surveys at the Refuge August through May. We meet at 7:30 am at the refuge headquarters parking lot, usually on the last Saturday of the month. We walk the Rail Trail and Heron Flats Trail, check out the fishing pier, the tower, and the auto loop. After the field work, we meet at headquarters to complete the reporting forms. We are usually out birding until 1 pm and are finished by 3 pm. If you’re interested in taking part in these surveys, please contact Rick Workman. Beginning birders are welcome; it’s a great opportunity to learn. Come for all or part of the day. Bring bug spray, plenty of water, and lunch/snacks. VMS Opportunity listing – FR: Bird Populations. Please specify ANWR in the description.
