TPWD needs your help to collect data on juvenile American eels to assist in the conservation and management of this unique species. Study sites will be identified in tidal streams and estuaries of the lower Sabine, Colorado, and Guadalupe River Basins along the mid-upper Texas Coast. Volunteers will:
- Deploy eel mops at sites such as boat ramps, fishing piers, or bulkheads in tidal streams and estuaries
- Check mops every two weeks for eels
- Record catch on provided datasheets
- Email or mail datasheets to TPWD
Email Stephen Curtis or call 512-754-6844 ext. 221 for more information or to volunteer. Report as FR: Aquatic Life and specify location in the description.
