Event Details

This count will allow participants to enter sections of the refuge and local areas that are generally not open to the public. Besides Whooping Cranes, results in previous years included Green-tailed Towhees, Harris’s Sparrows, Burrowing Owls, Mountain Plovers and a Rough-legged Hawk!

Meet at the Aransas NWR Volunteer building between 6:30-7:00 am for assignments and maps (other arrangements will be made for those heading out on boats or to other parts of the refuge). A variety of areas need more eyes, including those in the private/restricted part of the refuge, in remote areas, on boats, on pavement/walking, and in cars driving farm roads. All have their unique target birds, challenges, and benefits.

To let us know you are coming and select your preference, fill out the FORM. Not a requirement, just something to help with planning. If you have any questions, please email Rick Laughlin or Bill Burge.

Report as FR: Bird Populations and specify TXAR.
