Join GCBO Board President Bob Friedrichs for an in-depth look at local waterfowl. This course will have two weekday-evening classroom sessions via Zoom 1/22 and 1/24 followed by a full-day field trip 1/27 to the coastal marshes to put what we learned into practice. You can expect to learn about the 29 waterfowl species seen annually in the Greater Houston area including:

Identification basics including photo quizzes:

  • Breeding and wintering ranges along with the best local spots to find them
  • Molt including “eclipse” plumages of males
  • Habitat and diet
  • Vocalizations – No, they don’t all go “quack”!
